We extract annually about 2 million tonnes of ore, yielding about 7,000 kg of gold. At current production volumes, the mine’s known ore reserves are expected to produce gold until 2034. A mine shaft over a kilometer deep will be built at the Kittilä gold mine in Finland, from which ore will be lifted with hoisting equipment supplied by ABB. The shaft will make it possible to utilize the deeper parts of the gold deposit in an economically viable way. The Kaapelinkulma Gold Mine ("Kaapelinkulma”) is an open-pit gold mining operation located in the Valkeakoski municipality in southern Finland, 65 kilometres east of the Vammala Plant. Kaapelinkulma represents an orogenic gold deposit located in the Palaeoproterozoic Vammala Migmatite Belt. In Finland, Endomines’ production is focused on the Pampalo underground mine, where mining operations started in a larger scale in 2011. Since 2016, Endomines has focused on selective mining of higher grade areas in order to improve the profitability of the mine. Production in 2017 amounted to 398kg (l2,400oz) of gold in concentrate. The Jokisivu Gold Mine(“Jokisivu”) is located approximately 8 kilometres southwest of the Huittinen town centre, some 40 kilometres southwest of the Vammala Plant in southern Finland. The first indication of gold mineralisation in the Jokisivu area was obtained in 1964, when a local youth sent a gold-bearing boulder to an ore prospecting competition. At Outokumpu’s Kemi Mine, conveniently located just 20 kilometers from Outokumpu’s Tornio Works, all mining operations take place underground. The mine is the source of chromite ore that is concentrated into upgraded lumpy ore and fine concentrate through sophisticated industrial operations at the surface.
